Manage Companies and Contacts

Use the Companies and Contacts grids to filter, inline-edit, and bulk-update your CRM.

Companies and Contacts are the two working CRM surfaces in Blake. Both use the same grid pattern: sortable columns, inline edit, advanced filters, and a bulk-action bar. This article covers the day-to-day mechanics.

The two grids

  • Companies: every company in your workspace. Sidebar row Companies.
  • Contacts: every contact linked to a company. Sidebar row Contacts.
PLACEHOLDER: replace with companies-grid-overview.light.png. Shows the Companies grid with a dozen rows visible, the column picker in the top right, a filter chip strip at the top, and a checkbox column on the left.

Inline edit

Click any editable cell (Priority, Owner, Team, Status, Lifecycle, Tags, City, Country, Size, and more) to change it in place. Blake saves the change with an undo toast so you can revert with one click.

Read-only cells (auto-computed fields like Last engagement, Open deals, Open actions) do not open on click.

Sort and column picker

  • Click a column header to sort ascending, then descending.
  • Open the Columns picker in the top-right to show or hide columns. Your choice persists per user per grid.
  • Columns you hide stay hidden until you turn them back on.

Filters

The filter chip strip at the top handles quick filters. Click Advanced filter to open a filter tree with AND / OR groups. Filter by any column, chain conditions, save the view as a URL.

  • Filters combine with sort.
  • Share a filtered view by copying the URL and sending it to a teammate. Anyone with access to the workspace opens the same view.

Bulk actions

Select rows with the checkboxes to open the bulk-action bar at the bottom of the page.

  • Add tag and Remove tag (also create new tags on the fly).
  • Owner: reassign the selected rows.
  • Priority and Stage (Deals only).
  • Delete: soft-deletes with a typed confirm; recoverable from the recycle bin.
  • Select all {total} rows: picks up every row across pages, not just the current view.
PLACEHOLDER: replace with companies-bulk-actions.light.png. Shows the Companies grid with three rows checked and the bulk-action bar visible at the bottom: Add tag, Remove tag, Owner, Priority, Export CSV, and Delete buttons.

Export to CSV

CSV export is available from Closer and up. On Free and Scout, the export button is greyed out with an upgrade tooltip.

Click Export CSV in the bulk-action bar (or use the export action in the page header for the full grid). Blake streams the rows to a downloadable CSV with the columns you currently have visible.

  • Files up to about 25,000 rows are exported synchronously. Larger exports are not supported in v1.
  • Rate limit: five exports per minute per user.
  • The CSV includes UTF-8 BOM and CRLF line endings so it opens cleanly in Excel.

Unassigned Company

Every workspace includes an Unassigned Company. Use it when you do not yet know which company a contact belongs to, or when that company has not yet been added to your CRM. You can later move the contact to the correct company directly from the Companies grid using inline editing on the contact's Company cell.

Detail pages

Click a row to open the detail page. Both Companies and Contacts ship the same tab pattern:

  • Overview: identity, key Contacts, next best action, primary deal.
  • Activity: notes, calls, emails, and system events.
  • Deals: open and closed deals linked to this record.
  • Details: full property panel with every custom field.
  • IQ: Blake's memory for this company or contact, including lessons Blake learned from your interactions.

If a field cannot be edited

  • You lack the required permissions: browsing is allowed but editing may not be. Contact an Admin to change your role.
  • The field is auto-computed: some fields are read-only by design (Open deals, Last engagement). Add or change the underlying record instead.
  • Bulk update fails on some rows: rows you do not have permission for are skipped. Blake reports the count in the confirmation toast.
